Sorbet Acoustics is a start-up partnered with Sacred Heart Mission to divert and upcycle unwanted textiles into aesthetic panels. With a material that can be fully recovered, filtered and reused, Sorbet Acoustics' products are designed with affordances to ensure long-term recoverability and use.
Our products are more sustainable than other textile-waste based products. This is because current solutions in the market uses low melt plastic fibers to adhere finely shredded textiles fibers to form their materials. Overtime, those products will contain more raw plastics than recycled textiles. The unmet responsibilities are negatively compounded by the costs required to produce permanent textile-based products that dilutes the waste based material-limiting it's sustainability impact and circularity.
Our Goal
We are aiming to exhibit and offer our products in Melbourne Design Week 2027. This venture will give us a competitive edge when we apply for RMIT Activator's VentureHub start-up program.
Our Vision
Moving forward, Sorbet Acoustics seek to expand our aesthetic panels to be certified with flammability and acoustic testing to prepare for mass-manufacture catered for commercial interior spaces.
